The Brave Fighter of Sun Fighbird
The Brave Fighter of Sun Fighbird (太陽の勇者ファイバード, Taiyō no Yūsha Faibādo?) is a 1991 Japanese anime television series, created by Sunrise under the direction of Katsuyoshi Yatabe. It is the second animation work in the long running "Brave series", also known as "Yūsha", funded by Takara and produced by Sunrise.
Story
In 2010, an evil energy being called Drias comes flying to the earth. It co-operates with Jango, a wicked scientist, in secret to bring ruin to the world. Upon its arrival, the Space Police Force put their spirits into special android machines built by Dr. Amano that have transformable bodies. Fighbird enters one such android and lives as the human Yutaro Katori. He transforms into the super robot Fighbird when the enemy attacks.
Characters
- Yutaro Katori/Fighbird: Yutaro Katori is the form that Space Police Force's commander Fighbird takes after uniting with the android made by Hiroshi Amano. He often works as Amano's assistant and makes irrelevant remarks because he does not know the earth well. . He is voiced by Yasunori Matsumoto.
- Hiroshi Amano: As head of the Amano Peace Science Laboratory, he develops machines to achieve world peace. He is considered an eccentric by neighboring inhabitants. His character is voiced by Ichiro Nagai.
- Kenta Amano: Dr. Amano's grandchild. He acts with Katori as an earth special member of the Space Police Force and thinks of him as an elder brother. He is voiced by Kazue Ikura.
- Haruka Amano: Dr. Amano's grandchild and Kenta's cousin. She loves Katori. Voiced by Rie Iwatsubo.
- Champ: Haruka's small monkey.
- Yoshiko Kunieda: Female doctor who works at the hospital. She doubts Katori's identity. Voiced by Masako Katsuki.
- Satsuda: A detective of the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department. Voiced by Shigezo Sasaoka.
- Dr. Jango: Wicked mad scientist and Drias' ally. He built his base at the bottom of the sea. Voiced by Junpei Takiguchi.
